Update: WinPwn 2.5 (Screenshots)

With the imminent release of WinPwn v2.5 just around the corner,
developer cmw has posted some behind-the-scenes teaser screenies of his
upcoming version.
While his site has promised a “Wizard Mode” for the next release, here we finally get to see the new GUI in action.
WinPwn 2.5 should also sport a partition resizer, auto-updater, DFU
mode helper, auto-finder for .IPSW (pictured below) and possibly some
other bells & whistles yet to be disclosed. All in all, version 2.5
should lend to an easier, more efficient, and prettier jailbreaking
experience for Windows users.

winpwn 2.0.3

Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:54 pm by cean_888_calm

Winpwn has been updated to version 2.0.3. This is a bug fix update and no new features are included.

Notes:

  • You MUST do a full uninstall of winpwn before installing the new version
  • Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
  • WinPwn uses 300MB of ram at peak due to the ipsw being extracted in memory
  • You must first click browse and load an IPSW to use WinPwn (i thought this was clear)
  • For 2.0 only the *5A347_Restore.ipsw files are valid. The 345 image will not work
  • If you see Failed to load image catalog/payload catalog, this is fine and won’t cause problems
  • If you already have service with AT&T do not ac...

Rumor: Apple will release a New Version of iPod Touch?

Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:56 pm by cean_888_calm

Besides hints of turn-by-turn GPS directions, the beta 2.1 firmware also reportedly contains references to an unreleased iPod Touch known as "iPod2,1", according to iPhoneAtlas.

The current iPod Touch carries a model designation of "iPod1,1". iPhone readers may remember
that the original iPhone is known as "iPhone1,1" while the iPhone 3G is
known as "iPhone1,2". It should be noted that these model numbers don't
appear to change for storage differences alone. The original iPhone saw
4GB, 8GB and 16GB sizes but shared the same model number. Only when the
iPhone 3G introduced new features, such as a GPS and 3G chipset, did
the model number increment.

This would suggest the "iPod2,1" model will carry new features and not
simply represent a storage increase to th...

Waterproof iPod Touch (wait until the end of the video)

Golden-shellback.com
Golden Shellback
is a coating that lets you spill, pour, or submerge your gadget in a
liquid and have it survive. Golden Shellback says it will protect
against oils, water-based liquids, synthetic fluids, dust and dirt. Tekzilla's
Patrick Norton shot a segment on Golden Shellback and has footage of
cellphones and CB radios functioning normally under a foot of water
(Golden Shellback claimed the CB sat underwater for 455 consecutive
hours).
Apparently, the coating is applied in a vacuum and covers both the
inner and outer components of a gadget, which doesn't conduct
electricity. Golden Shellback hopes the protective coating will be
available soon, and expect the service to cost between $50-$75
depending on the size of the gadget. But seeing is believing, so you
sh...
